Join us in celebrating the 75th anniversary of the end of Prohibition

On December 5, 1933, the United States Congress repealed the Prohibition Act, restoring Americans the freedom to enjoy their spirits again — legally, that is. On Friday, December 5th, Iowans all over the state will celebrate the end of the “Noble Experiment,” as coined by fellow Iowan Herbert Hoover.

We’re teaming up with the following bars to sponsor Prohibition Repeal Parties:

Sweet Fanny’s - Sioux City, Iowa
CJ’s Bar and Grill - Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Jameson’s - Waterloo, Iowa
Royal Mile - Des Moines, Iowa
Depot Lounge - Grinnell, Iowa
Legend’s Bar and Grill - Ames, Iowa
Short’s Burgers & Shine - Iowa City, Iowa
Silver Dollar Saloon - McGregor, Iowa
Pastimes Bar & Grill - Huxley, Iowa
Vito’s Bistro - Iowa City, Iowa
Mac’s Tavern - Davenport, Iowa
Beckett’s Public House - Cedar Rapids, Iowa
11th Street Precinct - Davenport, Iowa
Swamp Fox Pub & Grille - Knoxville, Iowa
Barley’s - Council Bluffs, Iowa
Uncle Buck’s - Ottumwa, Iowa
Whitey’s - Manning, Iowa

These modern-day speakeasies will feature Templeton Rye drink specials and select guests will receive Templeton Rye flasks, t-shirts and other items. Come out and join us!

I had been a Scots’ Whiskey devotee for over forty years, until I took my first sip of Templeton Rye … I had tried other Brands of Rye before, but couldn’t tell them from Bourbon … My conversion came, and my allegiance remains because of Templeton’s seductive smoothness, ever-pleasant never-cloying taste, and consistent High Quality … I love the Rich Tone of the liquid and the warming promise of the scent in my glass, and I love the History of Templeton Rye … All the Best to you all and Happy Holidays …

Hello Ivan, thank you so much for your comments. We’re glad to have converted you. You summed up what makes TR great even better than we could! Take care, and happy holidays to you as well.

Hello, I was/am a friend of Msgr Behrens of the S City Diocese, and have enjoyed a drink with him in his Mt Carmel days from a bottle with the name Behrens embossed within the glass, not a paper label.

Did Behrens produce a whiskey with Templeton Rye folks or was it separate?

    Thanks.

    Bernie

Hello Bernie- Msgr Behrens is a name that comes up a lot when discussing Templeton Rye, both during our interviews and by our bottlers, who were all members of his congregation.

We recently came across a nice article about Msgr Behrens that we plan to put in the blog soon. He was certainly a well-respected man in the area and a man of many interests, including Templeton Rye.

We have not seen the product you are referencing but that certainly does not mean it is not out there. We will keep and eye out, and let you know if we come across it.
